Junior Herbalist Club @ Park View, Lytham

making elderberry syrupThis Saturday (22nd October) our Second Year Junior Herbalists will be learning all about the amazing health properties of elderberries and making some delicious elderberry syrup to take home.

These common hedgerow berries contain high levels of vitamins A, B, and C and stimulate the immune system. Elderberry in many different forms has been used in folk medicine for centuries to treat colds, flu and sinusitis as well as coughs. Elderberry syrup has been shown to shorten the duration of cold and flu infections and is also highly effective in preventing illness due to the fact that it is loaded with antioxidants, vitamin C and immune supporting minerals. The naturally occurring flavonoids in elderberries have been shown to be effective against the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus.
